Now if someone asks why it is that one who is deemed worthy of the vision of God and the knowledge of mysteries is not acquainted with the things that are on the earth, let him know this, that the friend of God does not remove his mind from contemplation of God and conversation with him to learn his sacred mysteries for the sake of wandering about on the earth and knowing the things pertaining to it; rather, he resists this, since he is not pleased by the sight of these things nor does he desire them.
